1969 Gibson A5 Double Cutaway Mandolin

Mandolin aficianados, jazz mandolin enthusiasts, and fans of the Country duo Homer & Jethro, will easily recognize this as the model played by Jethro Burns. With its modernistic double cutaway, it enabled Jethro Burns and those who followed him, easier access to the upper fretboard on both treble and bass registers.

In keeping with the Gibson style of the post 1950 instruments, the Spruce top and curly Maple back and sides are finished in the familiar Gibson cherry sunburst, with cream colored binding. The extended fretboard also featured the cream colored binding. The peghead is in the Florentine style with the "goat's head" (chevron) inlay below the mother of pearl inlaid Gibson logo. The neck is of the same thickness as the older style Florentine models, but with a more rounded profile.

An extremely clean example of this desirable, almost 50 year old modern era mandolin.

$2500.00 with import hard case.
